2nd Annual Boston 7DAYPSA Contest

November 3-12, 2011

Presented by Wednesday Morning Productions
Supported by WCVB-TV Channel 5 Boston

About the Contest

The 7DAYPSA, a successful national media campaign, has come to Boston! The Boston 7DAYPSA Contest is designed to help small, non-profit human service organizations get the media attention they deserve but can't afford. At the same time, the contest allows filmmakers the opportunity to showcase their talents and receive media exposure on WCVB-TV Channel 5 Boston.

Sponsors include Final Draft, Virtual Pitch Fest and Movie Maker Magazine.

How it Works

Selection of Non-Profits: 5 non–profit orgranizations representing a diverse spectrum of human services will be selected by a panel of judges to be the recipients of a pro-bono production of the organization’s very own television Public Service Announcement (PSA). One non-profit from each of the following service categories will be selected:

  • Elder services
  • Youth services
  • Mental health and addiction treatment
  • Environmental services
  • Food and shelter services
  • Developmental disabilities

*There will be a total of five non-profit agencies chosen pending upon the number of film makers registered.*

Note: Non-profits must service at least 100 people and work within a small- to medium-size budget. Please include your Tax ID # on the application, as the committee will verify 501(c)(3) status via Guide Star.

  1. Selection of Production Teams: 5 production teams will be assigned to each of the non-profit organizations selected, with a total of 25 production teams competing. Production teams will have 7 days to write, shoot and edit a 20-, 30- and 60-second PSA.
  2. Selection of Best PSAs: Each non-profit will then select their favorite PSA. The selected PSAs will run for "one year." on WCVB -TV 5.  A panel of industry judges will also select “stand out” PSA’s and award the production teams that created the TV spots. Award categories will include: Best PSA, Best Cinematography, Best Directing, Best Writing, etc.
  3. Awards Ceremony and Celebration: An awards ceremony and celebration will be held upon completion of the project. At that event, all PSA’s will be viewed and awards will be distributed.

Reasons Production Teams Should Register

  • Exposure for your company and marketing of your services
  • Eligible to enter PSA's for the New England Emmy Awards if selected to run "on air"
  • Help non- profit agencies that have endured fiscal cut backs advertise their services
  • Create awareness of the human services available to the Greater BostonCommunity
  • Your efforts are tax deductible as Wednesday Morning Productions is a 501(c)(3) organization
  • It will be fun!

Don't miss out on this great opportunity to help out those in need, while furthering your career.
